Hi, I did something incredibly stupid yesterday and starting to see what I can do about it.
I was in a rush and got stuck in a snowbank in my yard. I pulled the Silverado out with my old Sierra and as I was doing this as a one person job, the Silverado never stopped and smacked into the back of my Sierra. So unfortunately I broke the light assembly mounting bracket, the R lower turn signal assembly, the grill is broken but I can likely repair, I believe the L side mounting bracket also broke, I put a hole in the condenser, and finally my front bumper looks twisted up on the R side. A lot more damage than I would have thought but plastic isn't too resilient. So I can replace most of the damaged parts from a wrecker or new, but the bumper has me a little concerned. I hoped someone could tell me what the best way of tackling it would be. Left side appears normal. This side actually took the brunt of contact.
Either replace it or take the bumper off and beat it with a heavy rubber hammer. I used a regular hammer and it has dings in it but it straightened it out. I laid it on a board and hammered on it.
What I did was take the tow strap and loop it under the bracket so that when I pulled with my other truck, it would pull outwards as well as push down from the top since my towing truck hitch was lower than the top of the bumper.
The bumper ended up being bent forward a little too much so I will use a jack to slightly adjust it.
The bracket has a bend too, which I will grab a heavy hammer and a chunk of steel pipe to get it all back into shape.
