I think you should ask a highly qualified mechanic.

Unless things have changed in the last few years all the externals should be a direct bolt on. If you can get a complete 5.7 form air cleaner to cats, and computer that would make it easier though. Your engine mounts and radiator and hoses should work fine. If you do find a 5.7 and decide to put that in Summit racing has a 383 stroker kit for the vortec engines. It cost around 1000 dollars.
Their # is 1-800-230-3030
Good luck

just build up your 5.3 liter. it will be better in the long run because you wont have to worry about having to do any rewiring to the harness.

You won't have to re wire anything!

All external parts bolt up
But a 383 is kind of a waste because of all the extra parts
I would look into a 6.0L block and stroke it to a 402ci
Then use L92 heads and L76 intake and bam
Good to go
Or look into a 370ci

I would not use a stock 6.0L block if your wanting to put some serious hp on it cause a stock engine block from gm is only rated up to 450hp before stuff starts blowing through block

"Speaking from experience"

If I were you I would spend the extra money and and get a reinforced race block and start from there and build it up

How do you build a 5.3 to match the HP of a 383?

What all do you need to build a 5.3 to a 383?
