hard shifting from 1st to 2nd gear
my 03 silverado has 90k miles on it, lately its been shifting really hard into 2nd gear,i know this is not normal any suggestions how to fix this problem,im gonna drop the pan and change filter anything else i should look at while i have the pan off. thanks
thanks Allan, one more question would the shift solenoid have anything to do with the hard shifts,it shifts hard when driving normal,if i get on accelerator it shifts fine thanks again for your time. john
No,
If it's shifting, it's working. However, if you really want to look it over good, pull shift solenoid "A" and check the 1-2 shift valve that lives behind it; also the spring in behind that valve.
I really think you're going to find a wobbled out accumulator piston tho. That thing has been a sore spot ever since '82 when the transmissions were then called the 700R4.
When that piston is "right", it should be very difficult to get it down in it's bore. Both thumbs, a little vaseline and a few cuss marks.
