HID's in fog lights
my 02 silverado 1500 doesnt have fog lights so i was about to order some aftermarketfog lights: ( http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Doc...itemid=9321438) which are the same as the OEM fog lights but i want to install HID's into the fog light and since this fog light housing is made out of plastic, i was concerned that the heat from the HID bulb will melt the fog light lense and housing. on the tahoe forum i read that this was true, that the fog light housing/lensewill melt with HIDs in them....does anybody have anyknowledge on this?
dont worry man i used to be a honda *** before i bought my truck i agree with HID's they help you see tremendous and i have them on all my vehicles and i had them in both my civic fog lights dont worry they dont get nearly as hot as halogens due youll be safe
i was told that the plastic housing will melt...i found a housing made of aluminum coated in silver with glass lenses and i was told that i should go with that one. what do you think?
here are the links to both housings
plastic OEM copy-cat: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Doc...itemid=9321438
aluminum housing: http://www.everythingoffroad.com/ind...mqts.958s.html
yeah, the aluminum ones are more expensive, but its worth it if they don't melt on me [

let me know what you think.

From experience, it won't melt plastic as long as its not directly near the bulb... The front lenses cover is fine. The base is fine too. They usually melt really cheap quality headlights. HID actually use less power, but burn a bit more hotter near the tip of the bulb.
