Default Replacing the slide-out towing mirror on a 2008/2007 Silverado

I clipped my slide-out tow mirror on the side of the garage the other day and it broke the glass on the lower "blind spot" mirror and broke the mount on the larger upper mirrorfor my 2008 (same as the 2007) Silverado. The glass on the upper mirror didn't break. Also, the actual plastic mirrorhousing isn't broken, but if I can find one at the junk yard, I'm thinking it will be easiest to just replace the whole mirror assembly.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? I've seen muthco.com has some good instructions but I could only find it for the standard smaller (non-towing) mirrors.

Can I just remove that plastic triangle piece on the inside of the door (does it just pop out), or do I need to remove the whole door panel?

If I replace just the broken pieces, instead of the whole assembly, can I do it without taking the door apart? How do I do that?

Any answers you have would be very helpful and much appreciated!!

Thank You!!!

Welcome to the forum!!! I believe all you have to do is pop off the plastic on the inside and then you can replace the whole mirror.

Electric mirrors do have wiring harnes that runs to the switch, the back of the switch is only accessable from behind door panel, the swith panel has screws from the back, i found out the hard way as my 98's window and mirror switch would just pop out, not on these newer trucks though. pop out the little top triangle piece to get to the mounting hardware and then have to take of the whole door panel to get the wiring harness loose.
