Temp Gauge
Hi all,
I'm having some temp gauge issues. The gauge always reads hot (pinned all the way). I've tried replacing the sending units on the intake manifold and the one by the exhaust manifold. Any ideas? Thanks! |
maybe it's the gauge in the instrument cluster that's gone bad or something. Just a thought though.
Yeah, I had that thought but I'm hoping not. I think in that case I would have to replace the whole cluster. I took a quick peek inside and it looks like it's all molded into the same chassis. I'll probably just find someplace to bolt down an Autometer as a last resort.

but your truck isnt overheating right?
Definitely not overheating but now that the weather is warming up that would be more of a concern. I think my next step will be to poke around under the dash and see if there's a wire going to ground.
If you unplug the sender (single wire) does the gauge go to all the way cold? If not the wire is shorted to ground or the gauge is bad. If it does then you got a bad new part.
you could also just try unplugging the guage (if possible) and then plugging it back in. sometimes that'll do the trick.
MDTAHOE: I'll give that a try tomorrow, that's a good idea.
Speedy650: I kind of did that by default. I had taken the whole cluster out to see if the needle was stuck. Good idea though. |
