Default 04 Silverado AM/FM Radio Problem

I recently purchased an 04 Silverado that gets no reception on the AM/FM radio. There is just static and maybe a faint signal at times. The XM channel gets the sample signal at all times, but I have no need for this. Is it possible that something was disables at one time. Any suggestions would help.
Thanks,
Jeff

Pull the radio to see if the antenna is plugged in.

Maybe previous owner had an aftermarket radio he wanted to keep & quickly reinstalled factory unit? Pull radio & check for rigging.

I just bought a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD CC/SB pickup. My radio has this very same problem. All AM and FM radio stations are very weak and lots of static. I have already pulled out the stereo and ensured the antenns cable is plugged in securely and doesn't appear to be damaged. Do you guys have any other ideas what might cause this problem??

Default 04 Silverado FM Radio problem

I own an '04 Silverado. This past June my FM reception just went way down hill, mostly staic except right IN a city (near towers). I purchased a new aftermarket radio, but it too has the same problem.

I was hoping someone here knows of a solution!

FYI, It DID come back for about a month -- but is gone again. So it seems to be more of short somewhere...
