Hey guys!
I'm new to this forum and need some help and/or advice. 6 months ago, I purchased an 05 silverado LT 4x4 with a 5.3L gas engine, and 68,000 miles on it. . I just did the first oil change on it, and I am the proud owner of aluminum and metal shavings!!!! The engine isn't knocking or anything! I've been told that these motors have had alot of problems with clearence in the valves? Been told that the engine could go in a day, or even take a year to go, but it will. It's pretty sad that you spend all this money buying a truck from a dealer, and you're sh''t outta luck. I don't know what to do, replace motor or dump it? What's your take on this.
Thanks for any feedback guys!!!

I say drive it for awhile and see what happens. My buddy literally today just got done rebuilding the top end of his 05 5.3 due to a bad lifter, but he has 125k on it.

Yea,,,I'm just gonna take it light on the engine,,,,until something happens:-( My mechanic,,,,said he can install a Jasper engine for 5500. So,,,time to start savin! 125k, that's still not alot of miles for a chevy to do that!!
Thanks guys,,,,Happy New Year:-)
