ATTEMPTING,,, to switch over the upper transmission cable
there is a thick

gauge wire contraption over the top of the steering shaft
where the cable is supposed to run
is there any way to remove this thing
to allow easier threading of the cable ???

 

I wouldn't remove it and leave it off. It is there for a reason. There may be a way to remove it to install the cable, but I would replace it.

 

its there to keep the steering shaft from rubbing the cable
fully intend to replace it
if i can just determine how to get it out
