What type of fluid do I use in my 1993 Chevy K1500 Z71.

WHAT DID IT CALL FOR FROM THE FACTORY. I do not have the original owners manual.

Someone told me that is takes Dexron as a power steering fluid which is transmission fluid.

Is that ok to use. I am sucking out the old fluid & want to put in new because the old fluid has been in there for so many years.

I just want to you use the right type so I don't cause the pump to not be lubricated properly or leak.

 

You can use regular power steering fluid or Dexron III trans fluid.
