Default 1997 3/4Ton 5.7L Vortec Tech

New to the forum and I just have a question regarding my "new to me" truck.

Truck I bought mostly for towing is in great shape, but it does have over 300K km on the 350ci Vortec engine. I'd have a couple questions regarding it's possible replacement down the road.

I believe I am correct in assuming this is a long block L31 series motor. If I were to buy a crate motor, like GM's 350/290 with Vortec heads, all I should have to do is install new belt driven components, exhaust manifold, and the SFI and intake manifold, install and should be good... right? Is this a proper choice for a truck of this size and GVW?

Thanks in advance.
