1998 Silverdo 1500
Newbie here:
Hey,
So I'm looking to buy a 1998 Sierra 1500 ext cab with the third door. Bed Topper. 130,000 miles. It has the 5.7L motor. It feels like the rotors are warped so I'll have to do brakes as soon as I buy it. Plus it is throwing code P0452 Evaporative Emission control System Pressure Sensor Low Input. And code P0453 Evaporative Emission control system pressure sensor high input. My daycare lady is selling the truck and it has barely been driven in the last 2 years. First thing I did was take it to the parts store and bought a new gas cap. I then hooked up the code reader and tried to clear the codes. The P0452 code would not go away. I havn't bought the truck yet. What do you think a truck like this is worth? What should I offer her in as is condition. It's a good looking truck and I really like it I just want to give her and I the most fair price. I don't mind doing the brakes and I'm not scared to take the bed off and get after the fuel pump. I've done both before on a 98 dodge ram. I'm just having a hard time coming up with a good price I feel comfortable with a friend. Or do you think I need to find another truck? Thanks guys.

if the paint and body are in decent shape, i would offer about $2500. i changed out a fuel pump on 3 sierras'. the fuel pump will cost about $350 (get the lifetime warrenty). just 6 bed bolts, 3 fuel filler screws, unhook taillight harness, and 2 guys to lift the bad back about 20 inches and rest it on the wheel and bumper. you will have full access to the fuel pump. anyway, you've changed one on a ram, so you know what your doing. check out kbb.com (kelly blue book), you'll see what it's worth.
