I recently purchased a 2001 Silverado with 200,000 miles on it. It has been running great for about four months. Thursday I got in it (after letting it warm up for about 5 minutes) to go to the dentist and the transmission would not engage. I did not feel the transmission kick into gear or anything.
I checked the transmission fluid and the level was fine.
Today I hoped in it, started it and put it in to gear. I had to reve up the engine to about 3,000 RPM before the transmission engaged. I drove it around the yard a little then put it in park to let the engine warm up. After about 5 minutes, I got back into the truck and the it would not move. The tranmission would not engage again.
I am looking for any suggestions as to why this may be happening.

It sounds like a problem with the hydraulics. The PCM controls the transmission electrically with various solenoids but it still needs hydraulics to work the bands and clutch packs. Check with a transmission shop?
