Default 2005 chevy 1500 5.3l

Hey guys so I looked at a 2005 chevy 1500 last night.. It had the 5.3l engine in it. Now when I looked under the good it seemed like one of the past owners swapped the engine out the block was very dirty almost looked like mud was on it (dry) does it sound like someone might have swapped it out? Should I bother looking at it again or just forget about it?

Well it sounds like your are looking at a ragged out truck, but if you are okay with this. If you want to check the numbers then more power to you, but make sure you don't have an EGR valve (stopped 04), have an electronic throttle body (began 04) and make sure that mud isn't hiding a bunch of leaks.
