Default 2005 Silverado 2500HD-trailer brakes install

I just bought this truck and would like to install trailer brakes.

Does anyone know if the wires are installed in the harness from the factory or am I going to have to install them myself?

I had a quick look up under the chassis but didnt see anything.

Thanks in advance

There is a plug under the dash. When looking under the dash it is on the fire wall on the left side of brake pedal, might have plastic over in the way i don't remember, owners manual might also show you where it is, most brake controllers come with a harness or you can buy it at parts store, to plug into the truck, then you also have to install a fuse under the hood in the fuse box if you need the 12v positive charge wire at the back of the truck.

Most of the 2500 HDs come with a class 1 tow package/trailer hitch attached to the rear bumper. If you're looking under the truck, you're looking in the wrong place. Look directly at the tow package on the rear bumper. As well as a 2" receiver, you should have a Class 1 plug for your lights and brake controls right on the bumper with your tow package. There should also be an adapter in the glove box for a four-wire trailer plug. This is what 2500HDs were made to do.

Take a look at this website, www.innovativeelectronicsinc.net Site has a how-to video. Trailer mounted wireless brake controller. Cool thing about this, no more in-cab wiring. Easy to install to trailer, self adjusting, you apply the tow vehicle brake and the unit applies the trailers brake automatically. It is smooth. Had my unit for four years now in the midwest. Wife drive our travel trailer all over in the summer.
