2005 Silverado Questions
I just bought a 2005 Silverado 4.8L 4X2 LS. I love it so far but have a couple of questions.
1. I have an after market CD player, is it possible to add some thing to the wiring to be able to use the steer wheel controls ex. vol, mute etc.
2. Does Chevy use Metric or standard bolts?
3. I ran my VIN at the dealer and they said it has keyless entry but sold it to me with no remotes. How do I know which remote to get. I noticed that there are diffrent part numbers on the remotes. I have been looking on ebay.
4. What are any problems people have had with this year and engine size?
Thanks!

RE: 2005 Silverado Questions
It depends if the after market cd player has a "remote" wire which most do. But the functionality may be limited if any at all. I've never tried it.
GM has a mix of metric and stnd, but I encounter predominately metric bolts on GM these days.
for programming remotes try http://www.programyourremote.com/ select your make model and year and it should provide some instructions. Never had to do this before. Please let me know if it works for you.
problems with 2005 gm.... biggest issue I have had with my 03 z71 so far is the instrument cluster. Which wasn't a big deal b/c I had it replaced as a recall which I think covered '05 as well. My truck has under 70000 miles so the dealer replaced it for free. Would have cost near $600 if it wasn't recalled. Basically the speedo was jumping all over the place and generally what i've heard from others is that the other gauges go crazy as well. Other than that I've done my periodic mntc and haven't had any mech issues so far.
