2006 Silverado V8 LT3 4X4 Z71 Short Bed Check Engine Light
Bought the truck in March 2006, right now it has 58,000 miles, 75% highway.
Never had a problem all routine maintenance done.
Check engine light came on and it is steady. I read the manual and it mentioned two things that happened close to each other:
1. I changed the tire size, from 265 70R 17 to 285 70R 17. Fits fine no problems, filled with Nitro
2. Ran through some muddy puddles on dirt road
3. Suspected gas capwas loose.
I filled it up with gas and re-tightened the gas cap, light went away the following day and came back the day after.
It has been raining steady here for two weeks and things have started drying up the last few days and the light is still in. I have been checking the miles per gallon and have not noticed any changes in mpg. No performance changes.
I have done a search in here by check engine light and have gone 20 pages deep looking for similar posts and have come up with nothing.
Any 2006 owners with similar truck and solutions?
Thanks and the first round is on me.

RE: 2006 Silverado V8 LT3 4X4 Z71 Short Bed Check Engine Light
Update - I went to Advance Auto Parts and they checked it out. Three of the scans told them it was related to the evaporation system and that a new gas cap will take care of the problem. I bought it, installed it and the light went away immediately.
As you can tell by how long I have had my truck and how many miles are on it, I drive a lot. I will post an update in three days.
Thanks for the views!

This is too funny. I am talking to myself on this thread.
End of chapter - took the truck yesterday to the dealer, the diagnostic was the Evap Vent Valve to the gas tank mounted on the frame.
Light is off, I will post any recurrence.
Thanks!
