WHO BUYS A TRUCK WITH A 4.8 L ??? I just got my 2500HD with a 6.0 I'm going to put a 8.5 ft plow on it. I've only drove it about 50 miles, but so far I'm not really impressed.

my old mans just picked up a 07 silverado 5.3 LT1 Z71, and its pretty sweet. he get about 15-16 city and around 18-19 highway. the actice fuel management is pretty useless, only really turns on when going downhill or with a good tail wind. this weekend we went camping and when pulling our decent sized popup camper i got 15mpg while crusing doing 80mph on the freeway. i have noticed that you mileage goes up significantly if you use cruise control as much as possible. i made a 50 mile trip (one way) and on the way there i averaged 16.5mpg using my foot as the throttle. on the way back i used cruise control as much as possible and got 18mpg. just some info for you 07 guys out there.

In the hills you are MUCH better off NOT using cruise control. As far as your 50 mile trip, it is much to short to be a good indicator of fuel mileage and doesnt take into account any wind or elevation difference between the two points, since they weren't round trips. My mileage has varied as much as 3 mpg with a 5 to 15 mph wind. I consistently make better mileage going one way on 300 mile trip than the other because of the elevation difference and possibly the predominant winds coming from the NW.

I have had my 07 LTZ ,[4000 mi],in the shop twice for water leakage. One of the times there was trash in the sunroof pan drains, and the other the leak was from the rear cab brake light. Also while it was in the drivers side mirror was replaced as it had a bad shake/shimmy while at highway speeds. Other than that I am pleased.

Ive had my 07' silverado for a month now and love it, best of both worlds HP and good MPG with the 5.3/3.73 rear end, one of my speakers, passanger side dash sounds blown at times, and dark( granite) color seats, due collect alot of fuzzies, the breaks work fine( much much better than my 02' superduty)

Hey everyone newby here, after about a year of reserching 1/2 ton pick ups that would have the ***** to pull my 18ft Toyhauler and the Mpg to be my veryday ride, I chose a extended cab short bed, with the alluminum 5.3 and the 3.73 rear end, all and all I am pleased the I got 17.3 mpg first tank in town, then 16.4 second tank so all is good and she has smooth power when ya mat it! I love having 315 hp after driveing a 98' s-10 with the 4.3 for 8yrs, but I just cant leave the motor stock, i feel the need for speed! I'm looking into insatlling a cat back exhaust (duals for catalitic converters back) and a K&N cold air intake, I have heard that is a cheap way to get a extra 15 to 20 hps and better Mpg too? My question is, has anyone done this or any other preformance upgrades on the new 5.3 aluminum v-8 and what were the results? thanks Guys

One big problem! I bought a NBS 5.3L, 4x4, ext cab, LT2. The passenger side a/c would work and then after about 1 hour, it would blow heat (high). I had it fixed five times and it acted the same way every time. I gave it back to the dealer and got a new truck, exactley the same. No more problems, except the radio (non-bose) sucks!
