Default 2007 Silverado 2500HD RPM's

I recently switched from a Ford F-250 Power Stroke to a gasoline powered 2007 Silverado 2500HD LTZ. I love the feel of the Chevy so far. My toy hauler with dirtbikes, full of water, etc I believe is around 8,000lbs. Couple of questions:

1) How hot is too hot for my transmission during long hill climbs?
2) What should I try to keep my RPM's under? 5,000?

Going from Diesel to Gas is a bit of a difference!!! Any help and ideas is appreciated. Also, any ideas on upgrades for performance besides cool air intake and exhaust system?

Thank you for your help.

upgrades for it would be the CAI, exhaust for sure, upgraded tranny cooler (tru cool 40k is my favorite), vette servo and maybe a billet 4th servo since you're haulin stuff round, and then a custom tune to tie all of it in.
