Default 2008 V6 - Alternator Battery Wire

Hi all, I was putting a new alternator in a 2008 V6 Silverado. While going to install the battery wire (battery post were connected) that bolts down to the back of alternator hit the engine and grounded. Now I have no power to the wire nor does the engine turn over or anything electrical work. Can anyone let me know what I should look for to fix this problem? Is there a fuse that could be blown? I thought I checked all of them but maybe missed the right one. Thanks.

You probably blew the mega fuse. I'm not sure if it's in the same place as the V8 but if so, I'll be inside the engine compartment on the passenger side on the upper firewall. If you don't find it there, check directly on top of the battery. It'll typically say LITTELFUSE the amperage and MEGA.

Ok, KChevy75, I'll search for it. So either way, it's not going to be in either of the fuse boxes correct? Thanks.

It's right next to the support for the battery tray. Circled here:

Just pull off the plastic cover, and you'll see this:

Yours will only have the 175-amp megafuse. It's about $10-$12 at an auto parts store. Mine has two because I have two batteries.

Tip - next time disconnect the battery ground cable before you do any work.

Thanks all. Replacing the mega fuse resolved my problem. Any advice on the alternator for the 08? Mine went in less than 50,000 miles. The truck is not used for any towing or anything. Is this common?
