Default 2010 silverado 1500 lifter and cam problem

I own a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500. My engine light came on last week so I asked my buddy who teaches auto shop. He checked it out using his computer scope and he said it shows the number 8 cylinder is not firing. I took it to my dealer where I bought it and asked them to check it out because it is still under warranty. I thought it might be a coil not working a cylinder. I was wrong.

I need new lifters and a cam shaft. This is major because I only have 60 K miles on it. I have had a suburban and tahoe and put 150,000 plus miles on them with no problem at all. It is one of those new motors that shuts down cylinders for better gas mileage. Has anyone had this problem?

The lifters and associated cam have been known to fail on the DOD LS engines.

It does suck but luckily you are still under warranty.

It happens on the new Camaro's as well when equipped with the auto trans.
Alot of people convert to a non-DOD when this happens but it's expensive.

Another option is to have a Tuner "Tune" it out once your past the warranty period so it will not activate and the lifters will be happier.

Default Lifters & Cam

2010 1500 Chev engine light came on service engine soon--I thought an oil change, vehicle has less than 50,000 miles but out of warranty because of time. Dealership tells me $4500 cams and lifters are seized, 3rd mechanic tells me Eco fuel injection problems and that I should dump this truck its chronic issues. Does anyone else know about these for a recall?
