Default 2012 silverado 1500 cab leak

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced a cab leak in the 2012 silverado 1500.
I just got this truck brand new a month ago. i took a 5 hour trip, and half way through i realized water was dripping on my feet, and continued over to the passenger floor board.
the dealership cannot reproduce what happened. they tried putting it under the shower, and running the ac for long periods of time.
any advice??

I know on some models of chevy cars the air while driving would not let the water come out of the evaporator case. When it filled up it would enter the cab but sitting still would drain normally. There is a molded hose bent 90 degrees that goes on the drain to stop the air entering the evap case.

I'm sorry you experienced this issue with your Silverado vehicle. This issue may be due to an improperly seated parking brake cable grommet, seal at the seams of the front cowl area or seal at the stud locations on the seat studs. These are just suggestions, they are not meant as a diagnosis.

I encourage you to consult with a certified technician at your local dealer for an official diagnosis.

Please keep us posted. If you have additional questions, please feel free to PM me.

While I have not seen or heard any specific trend I would first test to see if any abnormal openings exist. With the engine at idel turn your ac to normal high fan with the windows and doors closed. (Do Not use max recirc A/C) as you want to pressurize the cabin. Now take a bubbly soap (prefer car wash soap but liquid dish washing soap works best) and start to cover the truck from top down and watch for the bubbles...lots and lots of bubbles. You will clearly see something abnormal like bubbles around a windshield or body seam. This will get you in the right areas for a more detailed investigations. An independant water leak specialist whom most dealers call in as a sublet repair are very good at locating and correcting the leak and from a warranty stand point can usually do so cheaper than a ticked off line tech stuck in the wash rack playing around with it.

The above advice is excellent....However you said in the OP the water was "Dripping" on YOUR feet.

So,if that's the case the water should be entering the Cab ABOVE your feet.
That rules out grommet seals etc on the floor of the cab rite?

You also said it was after a 5 hour drive assumed to be at freeway speeds. That creates alot of negative pressure within the cowl and the windshield seal.

That cannot always be reproduced showering the truck with water at a standstill.

I would have the dealer look in the Cowl and pull all the firewall carpet back looking for moisture. Also inside the HVAC duct work where it could have dripped on your feet.

Good luck!

Fire4him , the A/C case is getting condensation on the outside of the case and dripping on your feet. This is not unusual on long trips with the A/C on in high humidity areas . Just adjust your A/C setting and it will go away.

Good advice, it is best to start with the basics, I went back and looked at your location, South Florida. Long drive in South Florida ? Definitely look for condensation on the HVAC housing. Make sure your not on recirc all the time. I wonder if anyone has played with spray on insulation if the condition continues.

Thanks for the advice Louis,
I posted this after I had taken it in for service and they could not identify the problem. What they said was they put it under the shower and ran the ac for hours and without reproducing the problem they don't know where to start. Condensation makes sense except for the fact that the water was dripping from drivers side all the way to passengers side. I'm not sure if the ac line runs from one side to the other.
Thank you all or the replies I will be looking into all those suggestions.

Either way, there should be something to stop that amount of water due to condensation from entering cab

The condensation is building up on the outside of the case ,its not coming back in the cab from outside. The ac case runs to just about where the edge of the gas pedal is ,so it can drip on your foot there. The dealership should have been able to explain this if they are trained properly, but then again GM should have explained that also here .
