Silverado, Sierra & Fullsize Pick-upsThe Silverado & Sierra have been two of the best selling trucks in the US for decades, and is truly proven to be "like a rock".
So, my 2014 5.3 has 15K miles and has pretty babied, I like fuel efficiency so I don't normally hammer on it. I recently hauled my new (used camper) with an approximate 7,000 lb GVW / 700 lb tongue weight to a campground. My gear ratio is 3.42 so my max trailer capacity is 9,100, I'm not over loaded but my truck worked hard pulling that rig up some big hills. My wife was following me and said my exhaust was pretty stinky going up those hills but I shrugged it off as some carbon buildup being burned off. Now, days later, every time I get home and park in the garage I notice my truck smells hot, like when you get exhaust work done and some residual label glue is burning off. I don't have codes for emission issues but I wondering if my CAT may be prematurely burning out? Anyone else ever experience this after towing a heavy load? Wondering of I should get it checked out.
