I drive a 2003 2500HD ext. cab 6.0L. It has 44000 milesand 285 75 16 tires. It gets driven mostly in town and i do some towing. I am averaging between 5.5 to 7 MPG its killing me. Any suggestions to gain some MPG's.

Welcome to the forum, both of you!!! Have you thought about a new truck?just kidding. Even if you put a bunch of performance stuff on there you still only gain at the most 3 mpg, thats about what I gained.

gears, smaller tires, or drive like a grandma. too bad, cause the new 6.0's in the 1500's are getting around 14-18. but 5-7 sounds like your having some sort of a problem somewhere else. have you replaced you 02 sensors lately, cause those would drop your mileage to what you are seeing

I've got the same truck but a 2002 model with 265/75r16 tires and I get 12-13mpg. It sounds like you may have something wrong with your truck. I would have it hooked to a computer and have it checked out.

I agree... I'd get it checked out. I have an '05 and I get about 11.5 in town and 14-15 on the highway. I installed a tonneau and Volant cold air intake - the tonneau saved me about 1mpg on the highway. The CAI saved me about 1.5mpg or so. Hard to tell in the Winter.

yea no prob. at all towing eather one of my trailers gooseneck or reg. ball hitch
i have pretty much always had a 2500
i am towing a 76 K20 4X4 with 39s mud boggerand a 02 Zr2 with 42s and soild axel swap to a pair of dana 60s thats my rock crawler
every other weekend or so and aound town gas gauge i can watch it move almost towing
but once it hits that 6th gear and locks up man i am getting the 9 MPG at 60-65
i cant wait till they release the hypertech for the 6 speed to give that a shot
i have it already but dont work on the 6 speed. got me a 300.00 paper weight as of now.
and maybe gonna get the GM cold air since i am hearing good things on it now too.
should help out all that.
the TBS did make a diff of 1 1/2 MPG and on HP change on that i dont know but i did get a better Qurter mile time with it vs. without it.
so at 1 MPG better that 90 bucks will pay for its self eventually.
i went with the airaid one
but others out there.

AND I HAVE TO SAY I AM LOVING THIS NBS BEST ONE I HAVE HAD THIS FAR

Well I have a 2007, 2500HD 6.0 regular cab long wheel base with 3.73 rear end( 6 speed auto ). Driving back and forth to work and around the houseI am getting 14.7. I now have 2,300 miles onit andis about 5 weeks old. Bought it new left over from 2007.I feel that it will still get a little better as it breaks in a little more. I have plans for factory cold air and when when they come out with the programmer, that too. When I first got it, it was getting about 13 mph. These figures arecaculated on each fill up. It has been inproving the whole time.
