i have a 95 silverado that came with a 305 engine. the motor threw a rod and i installed an 85 longblock under all of the fuel injection parts from the 95 with some slight mods the motor runs but dies under load. i was told to install the 350 injectors, computer and knock sensor. today i installed the injectors from a 1990 silverado with 350. it now runs better but still lacking. My main question is.. do i use the computer from a 1995 350? or can i use a different year? do i need the entire computer or just a chip?

when i went online to buy the computer, they are separated into different years. 89-92 and 93-95 i have found plenty of the 89-92 computers at the junk yard but i wonder if there is any difference in the plug patterns??

If the top end is from a '95, I would look for a '95 copmuter. The currentcomputer may not be letting the engine have enough fuel to run under load. Just an idea.
