Default 383 Stroker

I'm assembling a 383. The tech dude at Jegs (while ordering a top end vortex kit) recommended a Holley 600. This is going to be a run up and down the mountain rafting truck. I haul about 1000 lbs. Of camping gear and rafts A three hour drive. I am concerned about mpg not horsepower on a strip.
Should I return this carb to Jegs and get a larger one?
Ps cam is Comp 260

Holley 600 is plenty for what you need. I built a 383 for a ss I had it running in the 11's in the quarter and only used a holley 700. The cam you are using is small so you will be fine.

Thanks I read to find the carb that matches where it will live rpm wise to get max economy. A poster said the 750 was too big to drive back and forth to school. Years later the wiser son said dad was right.!
