3rd slipping
3rd slipping <hr style="color:#000000; background-color:#000000" size="1"> I have a 2000 silverado 4x4 5.3 with the 4L60E. The truck shifts through 1 and 2 fine but slips on 3rd. If I let off the pedal it will shift up.
I took the shift solenoids out today and tested them with a multimeter. They both read 21-22 ohms. Which I think is low but the new one had the same reading except it would jump higher.
Not sure where to go from here. The pan was clean, the fluid looked good.
Does this mean I need a rebuild? I found some trannys for $300-$400 and some rebuilts for $600-800.

shifting up to third? or down?
if its down i recently had the same problem and found that i need a new torque converter. when you think its slipping tap/hold the brake and if the slipping stops, its probably the converter. try it several times to make sure.

well after messing with solenoids, fuel filters, I bought a used tranny and installed it.
At first I only had 1st gear in drive and reverse. The speedometer wasnt workng either. Played with the linkage a bit. Then we opened the transfer case and turned something. Now I have speedometer back, drive works in all gears but to go in reverse, I have to go to park first and I dont have 2 and 3 on the manual selector.
Can this be fixed with a new shift linkage or what?
