Question 4.3L Vortec Tune-Up

I own a 1998 C1500 with a 4.3L. I also own a 1995 Ford F150 with a 5.0L (I'm ducking my head! LOL!). I'm a disabled veteran, don't be too harsh on me. LOL! Anyway, on the Ford Forum, I found out about something they called the 6 Liter Tune-Up. It involved changing the stock coil to a HP coil, such as MSD. It also involved replacing plug wires with 8 or 9mm wires, and using plain, cheap copper core plugs. And then advancing the timing 3 degrees. All of this, increased performance and horsepower, while also improving fuel economy. While I know, that timing is not adjustable on my 4.3L Vortec, I still want to do approximately the same thing. Increase performance, horsepower, and fuel economy. Would changing to a HP coil, larger plug wires, and maybe some better plugs, do what I am looking for?
