Default 4.4 vs 5.3l engines

Im look at buying s new 2009 gmc worktruck package 4 dorr 2 wheel drive pku. It has a 4,8l in it. is that engine too small and does it get good mpg? I wont be hauling anything with it just me, but I dont want it to be a dog either when I drive. Thoughts?

I drive a silverado with a 4.8 and is 4x4. it had plenty of power when it was stock. I averaged 19mpg on the highway and 15 in town.

Hi smtex,

Welcome to the Chevy forums.

If you do a thread search in this section, you'll find a lot of different opinions on these 2 engine sizes.

There's about a 15HP -2 or 3MPG difference in the two.

I guess it all depends on your driving styles and power needs.
