Default 4x4 Problem

Chevy Lovers,

I have a 1997 K1500 5.7 139,025 miles. My 4x4 is electronic switch. When I put the key in and start the ignition all three lights go on, however, when the truck starts they go off. I press all the buttons, but nothing will engage or light up. I have been told that is the actuator, I have been told that is the TCCM. Icontacted the dealer to find outthe cost for both of these items, and is borderline ridiculous. Does anyone know where I can get these parts at a respectable cost?

I had a 98 Suburban with similar problems. I fixed it by removing and reinserting the plug into the back of the switch.

The switch is the switch!! It is on the instrument panel, where you SWITCH between 2wd and 4wd. Do some searching on this website and you wil find some detailed instructions on removing and repairing the solder connections on your switch.

Also a new switch is less than $100 online or at the dealer. This is a common problem on these trucks, but checking for diagnostic trouble codes is a good idea.
