4X4 Wont work
I have a 95 Z-71 and last night after a big snow I went out to have some fun and to my dismay I could not get my truck to go into 4H or 4L either one. I tried just like the owners manual said, I tried from a dead stop but nothing worked. Any suggestions??? It worked fine last winter and the couple of times I used it this past summer. The truck has high miles on it (166,000 and counting) but this is the first major problem I've ever had with it. Somebody point me in the right direction!!!

When was the last time a transmission service had been done? Also check your front differential gear. Look for play in the U joint as well.

RE: 4X4 Won’t work
My truck did the same thing and what went out was the ACT-U-RATER(spelled incorrect) in the front axel went out. It is an electronic part that pushes the hub in or out. Your light might say your locked in but your front tires won't spin.

RE: 4X4 Won’t work
Is your light not coming on or is your shifter not moving. If your front axle isn't locking in it could be your actuater. just take yours out and put your truck in 4 wheel drive. if it moves it works. If not get a test light and check your connection. Hope this helps.
