Hello all, new guy here. I'm in the market for a C10 and I've come across what appears to be a decent truck. I was wondering if some of you C10 guys on here could tell me if the truck is worth what the guy is asking for it. I've not had a chance to take a really good look at it yet, and just saw it on my way to work one day and called the guy about it. Anyway, here is what I know about it...

'83 Scottsdale
305 V8 w/auto trans
130K miles
20" Chrome wheels w/new Goodyears
painted silver 5 years ago, has a few surface scratches
billett grille
2" cowl induction hood
rip in the driver side vinyl seat
power windows & locks
asking price $7,000 obo

The guy said he bought the truck with 80K miles on it for $4,500 and he has invested over $10,000 in it. So with what little info I have provided would you say $7,000 is reasonable or too much?

Unless the truck is in very, very good condition and runs flawlessly.....I would say that $7,000 is probably $5,000 too much. You might also want to look for rust underneath - as 27 years is a long, long time for exposed metal.

My free opinion is worth everything you paid for it.

thanks for the input fellas. Its good to know that I'm not the only one that thought $7,000 was a little high. I initially thought about offering him $5,000 for it but maybe even that is a still a bit much. The outward appearance of the truck looked pretty flawless, other than a couple surface scratches on the door but since I was headed to work when I spotted it, I only got to look at it for a couple of minutes. I'm gonna try and swing by there again when I get a day off and really give it a good look. Anyway, thanks for the help and if you got anymore info that I should know when buying an '83 C10, I'm all ears.

I don't really know much about C10's, but generally when you put a bunch of money into any vehicle, you never really get it back. I just got my '99 K1500 with 103K miles on it, extremely clean, for about that price....and that was from a DEALER.
