88 chevy c1500 5sp swap questions
hey i have a 88 chevy c1500 with 5.7 v8 and 700r4 trans im wanting to do a 5 speed swap and am needing the most accurate and dead on simple parts list and what all required to make it all work as if it was factory please do not bash if this topic has been discussed for im new to this site just tell me where to look if its all ready been discussed and im only looking for a basic swap i have not modded my engine at all i just want the conveinience of a 5 speed

Here's what I do know:
You need either a radiator for manual transmission or to somehow plug the holes where the transmission cooler lines are.
You need to make some sort of accomodation for a clutch pedal setup. This may include altering the firewall and allowing for the mounting of the hydraulic clutch system. This may or may not be complex depending on whther or not the clutch system is separate from the brake system.
Because the manual transmission normally has a dash mounted shift light, you'd need to get an aftermarket tach installed unless you are good at listening to the motor.
You need to make absolutely sure to make the right cutouts in the floorboard and insulate them.
I have a 1991 Chevy Cheyenne W/T 4.3L V6 with the Getrag/New Venture NV-3500 5-speed in it as the stock setup. I can keep you posted as I find out more. Good luck!
