Ok new symptom. Startup and idle are good now. but the initial drive in the mornings is still rough. It acts like when you press the gas that you are actually taking away gas till you press the gas pedal even further then it picks up again but then it is like it has too much gas so it is trying to get through that very roughly. Could this be the TPS? once it warms up a bit it is fine say 5 to 10 min drive time.

that is the weird thing the check engine light hasn't come on yet. Am I correct that if the light doesn't come on then there won't be any codes?

No codes. I guess I will have to replace the Map and TPS next. Then I will go to the fuel pump and filter. Basically everything else is new on the truck. Not much left to replace.

All of those with the exception of the fuel filter were replaced when I put the new motor in. I only have 3,000 miles on them now. The fuel filter will be next for sure. I just replaced the distributor, cap and button a couple weeks ago. This problem was there before the engine swap as well, so this has to be one of the old parts that hasn't been replaced yet. Won't be long I'll be driving a brand new truck!!
