So i'm considering trading my 91 s10 for a pretty nice 98 ex cab silverado with a 305 vortec thats knocking from the bottom end according to the guy selling it. i have a 350 that i pulled from my old 76 chevy. First off i need to know if i can simply swap blocks with the 305. will the heads and intake, distributor, starter, and all the front accessories still bolt up to my engine and will everything be the same? also including the flywheel too. im not looking for a million horsepower, keeping the fuel injection no matter what for now. The 350s bored .030" with flat top pistons with 6cc valve reliefs. it has an old school RV cam that doesnt require different springs although they wouldnt hurt and no stall converter neccesary. had stock 882 heads and torque converter on it before. would any of this mess with the computer in the 98? and im aware ill have extremely high compression with flat top pistons and 58cc heads. using a .041 head gasket i should have close to 11:1 compression if my calculators correct. please dont tell me to go buy some 350 vortec heads and use them. i would if i could afford them but im 18 years old and just cant do it now.(unless youre giving them away) I was told you can unplug a knock sensor and it will still run good so am not worried about a place for one in my 350. IF this will even work the way i want, how much power should i expect for a high cmpression engine like this? eventually headers would be added along with 350 vortec heads of course, maybe a computer chip and a cold air intake to go along. this set up will not be permanent, i just need to know if it will work so i can get this truck and start my project. Any help will be appreciated unless you give me a long parts list of things that are expensive. thanks

Okay so ive had a reasonable change of mind because im trading for a set of vortec heads and a 700r4. Ive been researching and it is a pain to run the 305 intake and computer so i thought i wouldnjust throw a carburetor but the 4l60e is a pain too, and the 700r4 is the same length so i am also trading for one of these. The only thing i will need now is headers, fuel regulator, and a vortec 4bbl intake. So with .030 over, flat top pistons, a midrise dual plane, 650cfm edelbrock, stock vortec heads, an rv camshaft, and long tube headers with 2.25" dual exhaust. Give me an estimate if you can? Im thinking 10-10.5:1 compression. 1.94/1.50 valves, no specs on cam, forged 5.7 rods and i believe thats all. Is this a good setup for 300 horsepower?
