This week i noticed my 98 GMC 1500 z71 starting to knock. I have 190k miles on the original engine and transmission. This summer i did a lot of fixing on the brakes, a/c, fuel pump, tires, fuel pressure regulator and radiator and tune ups. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was a knock in the lower part of engine said she could run a day or 5 years. A friend told me to get some lucas stop knock and put sea foam in the gas and vacuum lines. I drive it to work and school putting about 110 miles a day. I graduate in December and hopefully ill be in a full time job by January to replace the engine. Does anyone have any secrets to possibly help it get by a few more months. Thanks!

 

Nothing will stop a knock other than a rebuild or replacement. Those mechanic in a can may very well make it worse. The guy was right it COULD knock for years without a problem. Drive it gently and let it be
