Default 99 Silverado Rebuild or Replace

I just bought a 99 silverado 1500, 327 Vortec. The truck itself is in mint condition, tran and difs replaced 50K ago. Has a seized crank. I am just wondering if and how much a rebuild or to replace would Cost? All labour done myself.

I had the same problem, I decided to get a used one for now, and rebuild the original one later on. I got a used one at a junk yard for 400.

I'd Build it yourself, that way you can put everything you want into it, At less expence to you, than a crate motor. No quick job, for sure but i agree you'll feel better konwing you did it yourself.

Get a New short block from... Well... Anywhere, and have your heads redone by a local machine shop you trust. You can put a cam in it or whatever else you like before you install it in your truck.
