I need some advice...
I have an 07 silverado 5.3 z71 4x4. Truck is not even 1yr old and I have been bringing my truck for 1/2 price oil changes at the dealership since I bought it (promo since I bought new).
Took a peak under the hood today as I was thinking about adding a k&n filter and noticed a cap wedged between the foam and the body!!!! It was my damn oil cap.
Essentially, my oil cap has been off for nealy 3kmiles.
Here's my question - can this cause damage? What should I tell the dealership bc they are going to get an earful. Just wanted to know if this definately caused damage or maybe. I checked the dipstick and it was full of oil.
advice appreciated.
thanks

Shouldn't have caused any damage at all......unless something entered the oil system(water, dirt etc) through the open filler tube.
make them change it for free to make sure there are no contaminents left in there

your dealer sounds like there mec. are lil bit on drugs. or something.
and on top of that you didnt get your first 36K miles for free. on oil changes
i know 4 people that have got theres done free for the first 36K
and not all at the same dealer.
