I have a 2007 Chevy 1500, im looking into switching to amsoil for my transmission fluid. Is that a good idea? Pros and cons if any?

Keeping the fluid cool and at the proper level is the important part... as long as the Amsoil meets the requirements of what the standard transmission fluid is, you should be fine...

Double the severe service mileage, guaranteed.
First company to offer synthetic transmission fluid.
About 2% improved mpg over conventional.
My 1997 venture transmission runs better than with OEM fluid.

As in2pro said, keepin the fluid cool is the number 1 priority. I use the valvoline dexron VI synthetic from oriellys. As long as it meets requirements then it's ok. If you have a transmission cooler, then run either amsoil or another of your likin. If not, I'd put a cooler on it for ease of mind. Heat is the number one killer in auto transmissions.
