Annoying Ticking Behing Glovebox
Truck: 2001 Z71 with 83K. Symptom: There is ticking or clicking sound eminating from somewhere on the passenger side in the dash. This noise is bump related and not engine or electical in nature. The slightest bump causes it to tick, so it makes the sound quite a bit. To those of you who have opened your dash up before, what do you think could be causing this?
Any help would be most appreciated. - John

RE: Annoying Ticking Behing Glovebox
Could it be the AC/heater fan? It's just under the glovebox on the far right. Maybe the bumpcauses the fan blades to start hitting something in the case? Does the ticking speed change with the fan speed?

Upon further inspection, I believe the latch mechanism for the glovebox is loose. This is what has been rattling. I'm not sure how to attack that.

RE: Annoying Ticking Behing Glovebox
Just to let others know, I had a noise from my AC fan also. Removed the glove box and used a mirror to look into the fan housing. I found a plastic soda straw that fell from above or came from the glove box.
