another P0449 question
Like others on the forum I have a P0449 code for sometime and it will not stay reset. Inspection is coming up so I need to fix it. I have replaced the fuel cap so I am back to the EVAP vent vlave solenoid. I got a price from the Chevy dealer and it was $151 which is contrary to others are saying on the forum at around $40. It also comes with a filter since it needs to be remounted. What am I missing

P0449 try again
I will try again; Chev dealer says the code p0449 is the EVAP purge/vent control unit part #19207763 for $153. This is the one near the tank. GM Parts direct is $73. However it seems that this is not what everyone else seems to be replacing which I think is the EVAP purge solenoid in the engine bay for $30. Your thoughts

I ended up replacing the purge solenoid and the vent valve on my wifes mini-van for the same codes only to find that it was a $4 hose that had a split in it...
The hose took time to find (on the vehicle) but nothing to fix, even with the $60 worth of parts I used I still ended up way cheaper then having the dealer find it....
short of hooking up the equipment to actuate the EVAP system you may just have to try diff parts... A hand vac pump can be of help to check for leaks and a power supply to check the solenoid and valve action...
