I've heard overheated fuel pumps are caused by continously running the vehicle down to E. Just what I've heard.

my fuel pump when out at 45K, no notice, ran fine to work, but had to be tow that afternoon.

GM tech said to change fuel filter ever 15K and never let fuel level get below 1/4 fuel as fuel keeps pump cool.

Have followed those rules and now have 90K and no more fuel pump problems.

always keep a rubber mallet in your tool box, if pump quits, sometimes you can bang on tank a few times with rubber mallet and get pump to run one more time. maybe get truck to the repair shop.

(all of us KY rednecks carry a rubber mallet in the tool box of our chevy trucks)
