Default Battery or alternator??

Truck was dead this morning, jumped off 3 times but would not keep running. Jumped 1 more time and would run, but when I let off gas it would pull down and want to go dead. I feathered gas and kept her running, but when I lifted off gas it died again. Not sure if battery is done, but alernator should keep truck running if battery is dead right? Gauge showed it was charging at 14 and would rise when I hit gas. Not sure how to trouble shoot this one

That really sounds like an internaly shorted battery. HOWEVER, have it and the alternator tested by someone who knows what he is doing.

Hi noggin,

Hopefully you'll be able to get some good trouble shooting advice here on the forum, but we do apologize that your truck wouldn't start this morning. If you decide to visit the dealership for this issue we would be more than happy to assist throughout that process. If you're in need of towing assistance GM Roadside Assistance can be reached by phone at 877-798-2989. Feel free to private message us your VIN, mileage and contact information if we can help.

Got home and was able to jump start her, alternator reads good output with meter. Watched charge gauge and it would go from 10 to 14 with old battery installed. Replaced battery and charge gauge is steady on 14 and fired right up this morning. On a side note my DIC is not changing languages on me this morning, not sure if new battery fixed that or just good luck...Thanks for the replies!!

<s>Sounds like both the alt and battery are toast. One of the quickest DIY alt tests is to pull the positive terminal from the battery while the vehicle is running, if it dies, the alt is toast. That said, if the battery is dead but the alt is good once jumpped it will run as per normal on the alt. In your case you have all the signs of both, Take it into a shop and be prepared to replace both the alternator and the battery.</s>

Never mind, didn't see the last post

If you're going to guess replace the cheapest part first.
