Hey Everyone,
Im new to these forums but im looking for some ideas on whats going on with my truck.
I have a 2000 Silverado LS, 5.3L V8 4x4
So I was having a "ticking" noise that was coming from the passenger side, i assumed it was a "stuck" lifter so I popped of the valve cover was pulling out the rods using B-12 hoping to get lucky and "unstick it". When I puled out the second to last push rod, (if starting up front (1-8), #7) I notices that there were some pretty serious gouge marks on both sides of the bottom of the rod. I rolled the rod on a flat surface and it was bent as well. I went and bought a new rod, set it in, re assembled everything and started the truck up with no "ticking" sound anymore... I thought it was fixed... nope. After letting it run for about 5 min in the garage I accelerated a little bit and the ticking came back!!!! I re-pulled out the same rod, (#7) and it was bent a little again and had a tiny little gouge in the same place the old rod did....
I hope that made sense.
But I don't know what the problem is. If it would've "ticked" as soon as I started the car up the first time I would've had a "clearer" idea on what was going on but the fact that it didn't "tick" until I accelerated a little bit is baffling me.
What is causing the gouges and the bending of the rod!?!?! and ideas would be awesome guys.

Thank you-
