Default Brake Issues (severe stoping distance)

I have a 92' chevy silverado with 93,000 miles on it. 2wd extended cab 1500 4.3l v6. other day i noticed took close to while to stop truck going 40mph on dry roads. i replaced front brake pads today didnt help plan to do rear on thursday. im in college and cant afford to take it to brake shop i know lots about mechanics i have tools to do every day work. what would cause this and how fix it. front brakes were close to half worn. back grab good. when i hit brakes push pedel half way before it has any resistance and feels like heavy trailer is pushing me even though dont have one hooked up. only thing i can think is brakes need bleeding. all help is appreciated.

air in the lines, bleed them, i dont know if you have an ABS sensor in a 92 (i doubt it) but if you did it might need to be reset

I would pull the front calipers back off and make sure that the pistons and or the slides are not stuck. Make sure you put a bit of anti- seize or grease on the slides before you re-install them. Also while you are under there, take a good look at the brake hoses. If these check out OK, then it could very well be air in the lines.
