Brake Shimmy (but new rotors and pads)

My 2002 Silverado 1500 has 108,000 miles on it. I am having a heck of a problem with it shimmying and shaking when I am braking at any speed. But only when I brake, it drives smooth. I have replaced all the brake pads and rotors thinking.... hot spot....warped rotor etc. Anyone out there experience this and could lend some advice, could it really be the bearing or tie-rod's?

i replaced the rotors with the napa ultra premium with a 2 year no warp warranty and the napa brand ceramic brake pad, the shimmey went away about 75%, but i can still feel a little vibration, i have a 2006 1500hd, i feel like my problem maybe that the truck is just so heavy.

Did you use good quality parts? If you bought the cheapest rotor then that could be the problem. 99% of the time anything that is felt when braking is a brake problem and nothing else. Did you torque the wheels EQUALLY when installing?

I used good parts from Napa, semi-metallic pad though. Here is what I did, I replaced the front rotors and pads thinking the problem was in the front, because about two weeks ago I had already done the rears. But when I did the rears I took it into my local Napa store and the turned the rotors. I put a micrometer on the rear rotors last night, one rotor is off .0015 from one spot to the next. That would create the pulsating shimmy wouldn't it?

I have an '07 crew cab 1500 and they put new pads on and turned the rotors because of the shimmy. Now it shimmys worse and the wheels get so hot (rotors even hotter of course) that you can't touch them. I was thinking they are just seating in but I am beginning to wonder.

I am curious if it is even worth it these days to even turn a rotor, I always hear arguments both ways. But it seems like something happened to mine for the rotor to be off .0015 in one spot vs. another on the same rotor.
I will have new rotors on it this afternoon, so hopefully I post back later the the shimmy is gone!!!!! I hope.

it does sound like the rotors. some parts straight from the factory are bad. sometimes people working on your car or parts do a poor job. anytime the rotors are turned the rotors are that much thinner and therefore they are more easily warped than new ones. i guess the debate between new rotors and turned rotors just depends on how deep your pockets are
