Broken exhaust bolt(pic incl)
95 GM 2500 5.7 full size pickup
I replaced my tailpipe and both mufflers to the cat(but not including the cat)
I noticed on the passenger side one morning that there was exhaust coming out of the pipe flange where the exhaust pipe meets the "V" that extends up to my manifold. (before cat)
I spun the head off the very first bolt I tried to remove(see pic) so Im just going to assume that may happen to more if not all of them. (3 bolts pr side)
As I feel around the top side of the flange the bolt doesnt appear to have a flat head on the top.
2 questions. 1. Are those bolts threaded all the way or are they press fit like a wheel lug
and 2. with limited room underneath any suggestions how to remove the rest of the old bolt.
Thanx in advance for any help. I always get great responses here.

I am almost positive they are through bolts, I have a 99 and they were threaded not pressed.
Is there any way you can get a drill in their and drill it out. I had the same problem and took the impact to em and actually broke all the bolts. Once they are broken if you man handle the exhaust and tug back and forth you can get it to come off and just buy new hardware, but if you trying to just unbolt one side I would try drilling it

They are a standard GM threaded exhaust stud (see the hex head at the end of the stud).
Soak, soak and re-soak with penetrating oil. Then, use a left-handed drill bit to remove.
I'd only use heat as a very last resort.
