Default Buying Advice

Hey guys,

I did some brief research and couldnt really find what I was looking for. I'm looking at potentially buying a 1500 and was wondering about mileage and issues. My price range (6-8k) seems to put me in the early 2000's with around 130-150k miles. Is there anything specifically I should know regarding issues with these trucks at that mileage?

Any specific maintenance that is really mandatory in order to ensure that I dont run into issues?

I'm quite tentative buying a truck with so many miles, especially a truck I know little about, but as long as I know what exactly to look for known issues and ensure that certain maintenance has been done I think I may be OK.

Any additional advice is appreciated as well.

Edit: What I am looking at is a 1500 2wd v8 extra or quad cab.

Look on Craigslist. I traded in my 2003 Silverado 1500 W/T 4.8L, 4wd, 130k and only got $2k, plus 1k bonus. So I placed an ad for $4800, and got no response. I am sure that truck after some body work, and new rims will be 8k.
