Wow! That does not speak well for GM. Frankly, I'm not sure I trust GM products since 2007. It seems that since their bankruptcy and management shake-up things are just not the same. Now with the recent ignition switch recalls and apparent cover up........I just don't have the same confidence in them.
I have to admit that I have actually looking at Dodge Ram 1500's lately.

Prospective....
The Ram 1500 is top of the list
Dodge Complaints, Recall Information and Pending Investigations
Miscellaneous drive train issues...
Dodge Ram 1500 Recalls, Truck Notices, & Used Car Problems - Motor Trend Magazine
Pick any manufacture, make and model , Google it with the word "problems" at the end and.... you may never want to buy a car again..

they all suck - I just think mine sucks less
at this point I seriously doubt that I will ever buy a Chrysler Dodge Ram or what ever you want to call them - not that they are bad I just don't like them
now I'm getting technical

sounds like the 1500s were the problem - glad I bought a 2500
we have an 07 1500 that belongs to our State Park Ranger - the trans went out at 100,000 miles
We have an 07 3500 with the 8.1L and the hydramatic trans with about 60k on it. It has towed a snocat here in the mountains for a minimum 50k of those 60k miles. The snocat and trailer weigh 21000 pounds - 27k pounds CGVW - 5000 over the factory rating.
Zero issues with the 1-ton.
The park manager drives a 2011 Dodge 1500 and he really likes it - a lot better than the F150 he had before. The Dodge has had several weird quirks like intermittent no starts, rough idles and erratic shifting.
I don't like driving the Dodge at all and I HATE the shifter with a passion -
