easy tranny question
As best I can tell, I'm leaking ATF from behind this little cover. My question is, if I pry that thing off am I going to get hit in the face with a stream of fluid?

My suggestion would be to just check to make sure the gasket isn't leaking before bringing the transmission and transfer down. Also are you sure it ain't the oil the put in the bell housing? Because some companies do that, which is totally fine. If it ain't any of that, drop the transmission and transfer, check to see if the torque converter is very loose or not fully seated. If the torque converter seems to be leaking from the front around the input shaft, it could possibly be a bad oil ring or the torque converter is coming apart. Does driving the truck seem weird at all? Remember this is just my suggestion.

Ok thanks for the tips guys. Really pisses me off, truck only has 39k miles, and I baby the crap out of it. It's shifting hard from 1-2 but that's all I've noticed. It's such a slow leak I might just keep feeding it fluid for a while.

If you still have a warrenty on it, I would take it to the dealer and show them. If the in the very rare case of the case being cracked. Make sure they dont just sealant or rtv it. Transmissions dont like that stuff and that is jsut a quick fix to get down the road. Make sure they replace or weld the case if it is cracked. It is probably just a gasket or seal.
